Iyer’s Leadership and Arya’s Debut

Speaking after the match, Shashank Singh praised Iyer’s leadership.

“When Iyer told me to go for big shots, I felt confident. He asked me to stay calm and execute my shots,” he said.

Debutant Priyansh Arya impressed with a blazing 47 off 23 balls. He gave Punjab a strong start.

“Arya was exceptional in training. He is fearless. Playing like that on debut is not easy. He showed his talent to the world,” Shashank said.

Shashank also highlighted Iyer’s selfless leadership.

“In the final over, I didn’t check the scoreboard. Iyer told me not to worry about his 100. That takes a big heart,” he added.

Vijaykumar Vyshak’s Game-Changing Spell

Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh took two wickets, but Vijaykumar Vyshak turned the match.

Iyer brought him on at a crucial stage. Vyshak bowled two overs, conceding just 10 runs, swinging momentum to Punjab.

“Iyer trusts his instincts,” Shashank said. “Despite the dew, Vyshak executed the plan perfectly.”

Head coach Ricky Ponting also praised Vyshak.

“I asked Iyer about our bowling plan. He instantly said, ‘Get Vyshak. He’ll nail his yorkers.’ And he changed the game,” Ponting said.

Vyshak was ecstatic about his performance.

“It’s a surreal feeling to win for my team. I didn’t know I’d be the impact player. I’m glad I got this opportunity,” he said.

Shashank Singh hailed Vijaykumar Vyshak once again as Punjab Kings now prepare to face Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium on April 1, 2025.
