NEW DELHI:  Sharad Pawar, the ‘Bhishma Pitamah’ of Indian politics, once again proved his mettle, when his party won seven seats in the Lok Sabha Elections in Maharashtra. ‘Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar,’ a new faction of NCP won more seats than the real NCP recognized by the Election Commission.

Faced with rebellion from its prominent leaders, the party broke down into two last year when Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar rebelled, taking away 40 MLAs from the undivided NCP. While Sharad Pawar’s faction won 7 out of 10 seats, Ajit Pawar’s NCP could only manage to win 1 seat out of 4 they contested in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Backed by the people’s mandate, this victory comes at the heels of one of the earlier statements when the former agriculture minister said he had not grown old and could still straighten some people out.

Supriya Sule of Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar won from the Baramati parliamentary constituency of Maharashtra. The daughter of Sharad Pawar defeated Sunetra Ajitdada Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party by 47,235 votes on Tuesday.
