NEW DELHI: Even after two and a half months after a case of sexual harassment was registered in Delhi by an owner of a player management firm against the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, the police are yet to complete the probe.
A case was registered against Tiwari at the Parliament Police Station on March 7 this year under the sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 376 (punishment for rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) Indian Penal Code on the complaint of the director of the management company.
In her complaint to police, the victim alleged that she had gone to a five-star hotel in Delhi on July 12 last year to negotiate the payment of the company and the BCA president allegedly tried to rape her.
Speaking to The New Indian, Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi Range) AK Singh said, “We are probing the case. There are many angles which are being looked into.”
When asked if the police had arrested any person in connection with the case, Singh said, “No arrest has been made so far.”
The woman had given a complaint to the police that in March 2021, the Bihar Cricket Association had organised T20 league tournaments.
In her complaint, she also alleged that the work of advertising was given to her company, but after the completion of the work, the BCA stopped the payment.
Meanwhile, she reached a five-star hotel on July 12, 2021, to meet Tiwari, where the two started talking about the company’s payment. It is also alleged that taking advantage of the opportunity, Tiwari started forcing the girl and allegedly molested her.
Somehow the girl saved herself from his clutches and ran away after pushing the accused.
Speaking to The New Indian, the woman’s brother said, “The complaint against Tiwari was filed with the police in January this year. But the police did not register a case till March 7. However, a case against his sister and him was registered in February on the complaint of Tiwari.”
He also said that the “police have not taken any action in the case”.
Meanwhile, repeated calls and messages to Tiwari remained unanswered by the time of filing this report.
