NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday inaugurated seven best-in-class EV charging stations across Delhi.
The step will help in promoting the use of EV vehicles in the city as Delhi has already 2,000 charging points.
A statement from the government said new charging stations were developed at DTC’s Rajghat, IP Estate, Kalkaji, Nehru Place, Mehrauli, Dwarka Sector-2 and Dwarka Sector-8 bus depots. They will be open for all EV owners with low-cost slow & fast charging setups.
Delhi CM said just Rs 3 per unit tariff fixed for slow chargers while Rs 10 per unit for fast chargers. “With the help of One Delhi App, EV owners will be able to locate and track queues at EV charging stations around them,” said Kejriwal.
He said at least 60,846 electric vehicles have been bought in Delhi since the implementation of the Delhi EV Policy in 2020. “We did not expect such an overwhelming response when we had made the EV Policy in 2020,” he said.
A total of 25,809 EVs were bought last year while 28,848 EVs have already been bought in the last 7 months. Two-wheeler EVs are attracting most of the buyers as there has been a 57 per cent jump in the sales of electric two-wheelers since last year.
Delhi Government has already launched over 150 electric buses, by the end of 2023, another two thousand buses will be there in its fleet.
