SRINAGAR: Security forces detained an individual linked to terrorists and seized weapons and ammunition, while also dismantling a hideout in Shopian district during separate operations.
According to an official, the arrest followed specific intelligence, prompting a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) set up by the 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 53rd Battalion of CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Baramulla Police along the Janbazpora-Binner road in Baramulla district.
During the inspection, Showkat Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Salam Bhat from Naganad, Kulgam district, was taken into custody. He was found carrying a bag containing one AK-47 rifle, an AK magazine, and 20 live rounds of ammunition.

The official added that Bhat, who had been serving as an imam in Hanjan Behibagh, had been missing since November 10, 2024.
Meanwhile, security forces uncovered a terrorist hideout in the Kellar area of Shopian district. The operation, conducted jointly by 44 RR, 34 RR, 2 Rajput Regiment, CRPF, and Shopian Police, targeted forested locations including Pahlipora, Heerpora, Padpawan, Bohrihalan, and Donadoo.
The hideout, discovered in the Bujbrod Pehli Pora area, contained cooking utensils and food supplies. Security forces suspect the hideout was used for temporary shelter.
