SRINAGAR: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir successfully averted a potential disaster on Tuesday after recovering two suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in separate locations in South Kashmir.

 

IED Found in Shopianโ€™s Kashwa Chitragam Village

 

According to officials, an IED weighing around 6 to 7 kg, concealed inside a pressure cooker, was discovered in Kashwa Chitragam village of Shopian district.

 

A specialized bomb disposal squad (BDS) was swiftly dispatched to the site, where they successfully neutralized the explosive device.

 

 

โ€œThe timely detection and disposal of the IED prevented a major catastrophe,โ€ an official stated, emphasizing that the device was placed dangerously close to a roadside, potentially targeting security patrols or civilian movement.

 

Another Suspicious Object Spotted in Tral

 

In a separate incident, security personnel spotted another suspicious object, believed to be an IED, in Pinglish area of Tral.

 

A bomb disposal unit was immediately sent to assess and defuse the suspected explosive, a security official confirmed.

 

Joint Operation Thwarts Major Attack

 

The coordinated efforts of the Indian Armyโ€™s 1st Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the 178 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) played a crucial role in preventing a major tragedy.

 

Security forces have intensified search operations in both areas, cordoning off the locations and deploying additional troops to ensure the safety of civilians and security personnel.
