An intruder from Pakistan, who was trying to cross into India for the second time, was injured in Army firing in Rajouri on Sunday.

Initial investigations by J&K Police and other security agencies revealed that the accused was arrested in 2016 for trying to cross the Line of Control. He remained in jail for 26 months.

The intruder was identified as Tabarak Hussain, son of Mistri Malik, a resident of Sabzakote, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

According to senior police officials, the army noticed a suspicious movement of an infiltrator at the LoC in Nowshera’s Sehar Makri area. When challenged, he started to run.

“During the firing, one intruder was injured,” a senior police officer told The New Indian. “He has been hospitalised and is responding to the treatment.”

“He was earlier apprehended on April 25, 2016, while trying to intrude along with his younger brother from the Line of Control in the Jhanger area,” sources said.

Recalling the day, in 2016, sources said that the Army observed the movement of three suspects trying to cross the LoC. However, only two suspects, Tabarak Hussain and his younger brother, Haron Ali, could be apprehended.

“During the investigations, it was revealed that Tabarak was trained as a guide of infiltrators, He was also trained to acquire enemy information and establish a cover story in case the individual is ever apprehended,” the source said.

It was also learnt in 2016 that Tabarak was in contact with a group of terrorists, and after his arrest, he underwent a 26-month prison sentence. Tabarak, along with his younger brother, was repatriated via the Attari-Wagah border, Amritsar after that.

Official sources further divulged that on December 16, 2019, another younger brother of Tabarak, Mohd Sayeed, was apprehended by the Army in the area of Sehar Makdi, where he had been shot today.

“The arrest of Tabarak today in the same area from which he was infiltrating along with his younger brother in 2016 and the area from where his brother was arrested in 2019 is a clear indication that they are up to something,” they said.

Sources in the Army said that at the time of his arrest, he raised slogans of help for his friends and companions, which showed that some other men were following him.
