SRINAGAR: The Counter Intelligence Wing of Kashmir (CIK), along with the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, conducted a detailed search at Central Jail, Srinagar, on December 4, 2024. The operation, tied to an ongoing terror-linked investigation, resulted in the recovery of several digital devices, including mobile phones, officials confirmed.
The search was carried out under a warrant issued by the Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in connection with FIR No. 06/2023.
A senior police official told The New Indian, “The case involves a significant conspiracy orchestrated by outlawed terror groups in Jammu and Kashmir and across the border. These organizations, allegedly backed by Pakistani agencies, have been exploiting social media platforms to radicalize and recruit Kashmiri youth into unlawful and terrorist activities.”

Investigators revealed that mobile devices were being used inside the Central Jail by individuals under trial for terror-related offences, including Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and sympathizers of banned groups. These devices were reportedly utilized to communicate with active terrorists and relay instructions from handlers based across the border, furthering terror plots within the valley.
The search operation, targeting various blocks and barracks of the jail, uncovered incriminating evidence, such as SIM cards, mobile phones, and other digital tools, all of which have been seized. Authorities are now probing potential security lapses that allowed these devices to enter the highly secured jail premises.
