Say ‘Jai Siya Ram’, don’t forget Sita: Priyanka Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in a light-hearted yet meaningful exchange outside Parliament, “Jai Siya Ram. We are women, don’t leave Sita.”

This unique moment unfolded in the Parliament premises on Dec 5, when women MPs greeted Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra with a warm handshake and the slogan “Jai Shri Ram.”

The interaction, captured in a video that surfaced on social media platform X, showed Priyanka Gandhi engaging with women MPs in the Parliament premises. As they greeted her with “Jai Shri Ram,” she initially responded with “Jai Hind” before adding her thoughtful reminder to include Sita, Lord Ram’s revered consort. Her remark prompted smiles and camaraderie among the MPs.

The video was shared widely by Congress leaders, including spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, who praised Priyanka Gandhi’s response. Shrinate highlighted the significance of the message, saying, “Jai Siya Ram. We are women, don’t leave Sita.”
Since being elected as an MP for the first time, Priyanka Gandhi has demonstrated an active presence in Parliament. One of her key demands has been financial aid for families affected by landslides in her constituency, Wayanad.
Speaking to the media, she criticized the government for its inadequate assistance, stating, “We have informed them about the situation in Wayanad. We have explained what has happened there and how people have been completely devastated. If the central government does nothing in this situation, then what can people expect? Modi ji went there, he met the people. And when I met those people, they had hope that the Prime Minister would come and help them.”
She continued, “Till now, they have not received any help. This is a sad thing. I have only appealed that, beyond politics, people should help as much as they can. We have submitted representations to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister as well.”
