NEW DELHI: Sara Tendulkar,daughter of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, has voiced her concerns over the rise of deep fake photos portraying her in a fabricated romantic relationship with Indian cricketer Shubman Gill.The manipulated images, generated using artificial intelligence, have sparked distress for Sara, who vehemently denies any such connection with Gill.
Sara took to her social media account on X (formerly Twitter) to call out the fake photos and the fake account that has been impersonating her. She said that the misuse of technology takes away from the truth and authenticity of the internet.She also clarified that she does not have an account on X, and hoped that X would suspend the fake accounts. She added that entertainment should never come at the expense of the truth.

Interestingly, the same fake account that she was referring to posted her original message on X, and later changed its name to include “parody” in it.The account has over 200,000 followers and often posts about Sara’s rumoured relationship with Gill.

The issue of deepfake technology and its potential harms has also been raised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 Virtual Summit. He said that the technology is dangerous for society and individuals, and urged for measures to safeguard against its risks. He also stressed the need to make artificial intelligence accessible to the people and safe for society.
This is not the first time that Sara Tendulkar has been linked with Shubman Gill. The rumours started when Sara posted a picture of Gill on her Instagram story, and Gill responded with a heart emoji. Later, actress Sara Ali Khan, who was also rumoured to be dating Gill, confirmed on a talk show that it was Sara Tendulkar who was dating Gill. However, neither Sara nor Gill have officially confirmed or denied their relationship status.
