NEW DELHI: Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, filed his nomination on Thursday, January 16, declaring a net worth of ₹11.12 crore.

His opponent, Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party chief, also filed his nomination a day earlier, on January 15, declaring a family net worth of ₹4.2 crore, which includes his wealth of ₹1.73 crore.

According to his affidavit, Dikshit owns ₹1.04 crore in movable assets, including ₹5,000 in cash. His wife holds movable assets worth ₹2.41 crore.

The couple also has significant immovable assets, with Dikshit declaring ₹5.14 crore and his wife owning ₹2.53 crore. The Congress leader listed liabilities amounting to ₹75.57 lakh.

In terms of income, Dikshit earned ₹16.33 lakh during the financial year 2023-24, while his wife’s income stood at ₹7.34 lakh for the same period.

Sandeep Dikshit is set for a strong fight against Kejriwal, who has served as the Chief Minister of Delhi three times, and BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.

Verma also submitted his nomination on Wednesday, January 15. In his election affidavit, Verma declared his family’s total assets worth ₹114 crore. Verma’s net worth stands at ₹89 crore, while his wife, Swati Singh, has a net worth of ₹24.4 crore.

Kejriwal, on the other hand, who has been accused by the BJP of overspending on the Flag Staff residence and turning it into a “Sheesh Mahal,” declared movable assets worth ₹3.4 lakhs, including ₹2.96 lakhs in bank savings.

His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, has movable assets valued at ₹1 crore. Kejriwal’s immovable assets total ₹1.7 crore, while his wife’s immovable assets are valued at ₹1.5 crore.

Delhi is set to vote on February 5, with the results scheduled to be announced on February 8.
