NEW DELHI: Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-Hee has passed away at 63. He suffered a cardiac arrest and died while receiving treatment at a hospital. His sudden death leaves a leadership gap at the company.

 

Han spent nearly 40 years at Samsung Electronics. He played a key role in making Samsung a global leader in TV technology. His contributions shaped the company’s success in display innovation.

 

He joined Samsung Electronics in 1988. He started in the Visual Display division. His work helped Samsung dominate the global TV market. Over the years, he became one of the most influential figures in consumer electronics.

Han Jong-Hee’s Legacy in Samsung

Last week, Han chaired Samsung Electronics’ annual shareholder meeting. He apologized for the company’s weak stock performance. He acknowledged Samsung’s struggles in AI semiconductors. The company had fallen behind SK Hynix in AI-driven memory chips.

 

His passing comes at a crucial time for Samsung. The company is navigating major shifts in the tech industry. AI, chip manufacturing, and digital innovation remain key challenges.

 

His funeral will be held at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul. The procession is scheduled for Thursday. The company has not yet announced his successor.
