NEW DELHI: Demanding immediate termination of Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain from the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday held a protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal near his residence at Flagstaff Road on Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Jain on charges of money laundering. In the ensuing blame game, AAP accused the BJP of misusing the agencies for political gains, the BJP leaders demanded the dismissal of Jain from the cabinet.

“Kejriwal came to practice a politics of repute. He himself got changed. When his own party’s minister got caught on the charges of corruption, why the CM is afraid of sacking Satyendra Jain. Is he afraid because Jain may reveal the secrets of Kejriwal if he gets sacked?” Adesh Kumar Gupta, Delhi BJP chief, told The New Indian.

Kejriwal has already dismissed the allegation against his health minister Jain. “We don’t tolerate corruption but the case in which ED has arrested Satyendar Jain is a total fraud and I have personally examined it. He’s being targeted due to political reasons alone. Our faith in the judiciary is strong,” he had said.

Besides the health ministry, Jain is entrusted with the ministries of power, home, PWD, industries, urban development, flood, irrigation and water of the Delhi government.

However, BJP is relentless in its demand. “Jain should be terminated immediately. The Government should encroach land in unauthorised colonies that Jain reportedly bought at Rs 100 crore but the actual value of the land is more than Rs 10,000 crore. The Delhi Government should construct schools, hospitals, and parks and develop other infrastructure on the land. This will spread a message countrywide,” leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri told The New Indian at the protest site.

“Once Jain is dismissed from the Delhi government, it will be clear whose money goes to whom. How much goes to the top leadership. Proper investigation should be done. The people of Delhi are waiting for the sacking of Jain or compelling him to write a resignation letter. Delhi will appeal to LG for Presidential rule, Rajendra Singh Ahluwalia, a BJP leader from the Chandni Chowk area, said.
