NEW DELHI: Russia’s Foreign Ministry has announced the introduction of a new E-Visa system, extending its benefits to fifty-two countries, India among them. Starting from 1st August 2023, travelers from these nations will be able to take advantage of this streamlined visa process.

For Indian passport holders, this new e-visa system will offer a hassle-free means of visiting Russia, streamlining the travel process and making it more convenient. It is also likely to have a positive impact on tourism, as Indian travelers will find it easier to explore the beauty and culture of Russia.

The e-visa will cater to various purposes of travel, including business trips, guest visits, tourism, and participation in events hosted in Russia. This means that Indians planning to visit Russia for any of these reasons can now enter the Russian Federation with greater ease and efficiency. The introduction of the e-visa is scheduled to take effect from 1st August 2023.

Under this new system, the approval process for a single-entry visa will be expedited, with the maximum waiting period reduced to just four days. This will not only save time for travelers but also make the process more predictable and less cumbersome. Furthermore, the cost of the e-visa is set at approximately Rs. 3280, making it an affordable option for Indian travelers.

In terms of validity, the e-visa will offer sixty days, allowing visitors to spend a reasonable amount of time in Russia for their intended purposes. This duration should be sufficient for business engagements, leisure travel, or attending events.

Interestingly, this announcement comes at a time when India’s relations with Russia were under scrutiny on international platforms, especially in regards to oil deals and other diplomatic matters.
