Rubika Paharia, 22, was killed by her husband, Dildar Ansari, on December 17 last year. He, along with his mother, then took her body to his maternal uncle’s house with the aim of disposing of it.

At Main-ul-Haq Ansari’s house, Rubika’s body was cut into 20 pieces with a butcher’s knife. The body parts are then disposed of in various places in the city.

Main-ul-Haq Ansari had been absconding since the police started the investigation. He was arrested for hiding evidence in the Rubika murder case.

Sahibganj SP, Anuranjan Kispotta, said, “Mainul has a criminal history. Apart from this heinous murder case, three other cases are registered against him at Borio police station.”

“After killing Rubika, she was cut into several pieces, which were thrown everywhere to hide the evidence. An FIR was lodged in this matter on December 17, 2022,” he said.

Jharkhand police have till now arrested Dildar Ansari and several members of his family, including his mother, Mariam Nisha. The police have also submitted a charge sheet in the case to the court.

According to the police, Rubika was a resident of Goda Pahad village. She got married to Dildar Ansari in November 2022 – a month before her murder.

Incidentally, Rubika was Dildar’s second wife. Rubika and Dildar had been in a relationship for a few years prior to their marriage. Despite his second marriage, the police said, Dildar continued to live with his first wife and their child.
