NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) honored the 500th birth anniversary of Maharani Abbakka, a legendary female freedom fighter, during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) 2025.
The event, held at Janaseva Vidya Kendra, Channenahalli, Bengaluru, saw RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale highlighting her remarkable contributions to Indiaโs history.
In his address, Hosabale praised Maharani Abbakka as a symbol of resistance against foreign invaders.

Hosabale emphasized her exceptional administrative skills, strategic acumen, and unwavering commitment to protecting her kingdom from external aggression. Abbakka, known for her valiant stand against Portuguese colonial forces, successfully defended her territory through effective military alliances and warfare strategies.
The RSS leader also acknowledged Maharani Abbakkaโs efforts in promoting temple construction and infrastructure development, which significantly shaped Indiaโs cultural heritage. Her leadership and foresight in governance earned her the title of โAmaraveer,โ meaning immortal warrior.
The Indian government has previously recognized Maharani Abbakkaโs legacy through various initiatives. In 2003, a postage stamp was issued in her honor, and in 2009, a naval vessel was named after her to inspire future generations in national service.

Hosabale urged society to draw inspiration from Maharani Abbakkaโs life and contributions, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in nation-building. As RSS prepares for its centenary celebrations, he called upon citizens to imbibe her values of patriotism, resilience, and service to the nation.
The three-day RSS conclave, which concludes today, also discussed key national issues, including social reforms, environmental consciousness, and strategies for expanding the organizationโs outreach in the coming years.
