NEW DELHI: As the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh marks its annual Vijaya Dashami event, they announced that on the occasion of the unveiling of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the sangh will commemorate multiple smaller events to commemorate the same.
Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS supremo, said in his address in relation to the consecration of the temple on January 22, “On the occasion of the consecration of Ramlala, we should organise this event at a small scale at various places.
Bhagwat further added that the smaller events marking the commemoration of the mandir will “awaken” the Ram of one’s mind and create an atmosphere of “affection, responsibility and goodwill” in the society.

The saffron outfit has decided to commemorate the temple’s inauguration in these smaller locations to make the event more inclusive, according to Bhagwat. Moreover, he highlighted that since the temple’s opening will only be attended by a limited list of guests, the RSS will celebrate the same at comparatively smaller locations for the people who wish to celebrate the historic event.

Bhagwat emphasised that the temple’s commemoration symbolises a sacred dedication to the “global idea of serving the nation.” He drew comparisons with the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Chandrayaan-3 lander successfully achieving a soft landing on the lunar south pole, contributing to global knowledge. He stated, “The endeavours and efforts of a nation are driven by the national ideals that serve the global purpose of that nation.”
Implying that the concept of ‘Ramlala’ is deeply rooted in our constitutional principles and the comprehensive essence of our country, he asserted that Lord Ram, whose “picture is depicted on a page of the original Constitution” is being built. “Lord Shri Ram personifies dignified conduct for our ancient nation, is the epitome of dutifulness and Dharm,” Bhagwat said.
The Ram Mandir in Ayodhaya has been under construction for over two years after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of its construction. Ayodhaya’s Ram Mandir was fighting a case owing to a dispute fought between the Hindus and the Muslims regarding the legality of the Uttar Pradesh temple.

Earlier in 1992, members from numerous Hindu Right Wing outfits like the RSS and the Shiv Sena had flocked to the Babri Masjid, where the Ram Mandir is now being built, to raze it to the ground. It was a part of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) co-founder LK Advani’s Ram Rath Yatra which sought to support the outfits to erect a temple on the Masjid’s land.
