The Prime Minister’s installation of the Sengol in the newly inaugurated Parliament faced continued criticism from the opposition on Monday. RJD took a jibe at PM Narendra Modi’s act by sharing an image of Amrish Puri from the film ‘Loha’ on social media.
The picture featured the infamous villain Shera Singh, played by Puri, holding a staff. RJD cleverly captioned it, engaging their followers to identify the film and actor behind the scene.
This incident followed RJD’s previous tweet comparing the shape of the Parliament to a coffin, which garnered negative reactions from many citizens.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s new parliament building, marking a significant milestone in transforming the nation’s capital from its British colonial-era architecture.
This controversy arose a day after the Congress criticized the inauguration as an act of “self-coronation.” Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “What we witnessed on August 15th, 1947, was the birth of a new democratic nation. What we saw today was a shameless self-coronation.”
The installation of the Sengol by PM Modi symbolizes the ceremonial beginning of this new chapter. The inauguration included floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and a puja ceremony. Prior to the event, PM Modi received the sacred sceptre, Sengol, from Adheenams (priests) in a meeting held the day before.
However, the inauguration of India’s new Parliament building by PM Modi faced controversy as the principal opposition party and 20 other political parties chose to boycott the event.
