NEW DELHI: Last year, Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha tied the knot with grand celebrations held in three different cities. Now, the actor couple has opted to make this experience accessible to their fans by transforming their wedding into a documentary named “RiAlity.” According to Richa, the documentary will provide an insight into the authentic aspects of the glamour world.

The couple has chosen a special time to offer the first preview of their wedding documentary as it aligns with the one-year anniversary of the culmination of their extravagant wedding festivities, which encompassed the cultural diversity of Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai, and continued until October 6 last year.

“Weddings are often portrayed as fairytales, but the reality is a mix of emotions – joy, anxiety, excitement, and everything in between. Our documentary, ‘RiAlity,’ is a heartfelt attempt to capture the genuine essence of our wedding experience,” Richa told Hindustan Times, adding, “Our wedding was a tapestry woven with threads of every emotion imaginable. ‘RiAlity’ is our attempt to unravel the complexities of that experience. It’s a mirror reflecting the reality behind the glitz, a candid portrayal of two people from humble beginnings.”

In fact, their choice to produce ‘RiAlity’ originates from their wish to present an unscripted, honest portrayal of their wedding experience. Directed by Rahul Singh Datta, the documentary will provide a distinctive viewpoint on the events surrounding the wedding, and the days leading up to it. The couple will refrain from offering their own commentary on the wedding, opting instead for an outsider’s perspective.

During the interview, Fazal emphasised that they are openly revealing their feelings, the challenges they faced, and the successes they experienced while arranging their marriage.

“RiAlity is a testament to the fact that love is not always perfect, but it is always enough. Love is profound, it is messy, and yet worth moving worlds for. RiAlity captures some of the essence of our journey, not just as actors but as two regular people in love.

“We wanted to give you all a glimpse of the effect of this not just through us but through the gaze of the people around us. This document is our way of saying, ‘This is us – flaws, dreams, and all. And there is a bit of you in us and a bit of us in you all,” he said.

The documentary is anticipated to be released either later this year or in the early months of the following year.
