In Harda district, the sex ratio at birth is 894 females to every 1000 males, significantly lower than the national average. This initiative is a proactive measure to tackle this imbalance and promote gender equality.
Under the “Revashakti” scheme, parents of only daughters receive barcoded “Keerti” cards, which make them eligible for discounts at schools, hospitals, grocery stores, and other establishments. The scheme has seen enthusiastic participation, with 638 parents enrolling so far. This initiative provides financial relief and sends a strong message about the value of daughters in society.
The district administration’s holistic approach involves various sectors to ensure comprehensive support for families with only daughters. Schools, hospitals, business establishments, and retail outlets have all agreed to participate voluntarily, offering discounts ranging from 15% to 100%.
