NEW DELHI : The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) began with a spectacular opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 22, 2025.
The match was preceded by a dazzling opening ceremony featuring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, singers Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla, and actress Disha Patani, setting the stage for an electrifying season.

However, KKRโs middle order faltered under pressure, with Krunal Pandya delivering a match-winning spell for RCB, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs.

Captain Rajat Patidar contributed a quick 34 off 16 balls, sealing the victory with 22 balls to spare. RCB finished at 177/3, winning by seven wickets.
