Rashtrapati Bhawan illuminates in purple for International Day of Persons with Disabilities

NEW DELHI: In a powerful gesture of solidarity and inclusion, the iconic Rashtrapati Bhawan was illuminated in purple today to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This vibrant display underscores this year’s theme, “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” emphasizing the critical need for participation, representation, and inclusion to create a more equitable and just world.

The purple illumination serves as a symbol of awareness and recognition of the rights, capabilities, and leadership potential of persons with disabilities. It reflects a global commitment to breaking barriers and ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has a voice and a stake in shaping the future.

Arman Ali, Executive Director of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), remarked, “This is more than just a symbolic campaign; it is a clarion call to remind us that inclusion and equality are non-negotiable. The purple-lit Rashtrapati Bhawan stands as a tribute to the resilience, strength, and contributions of persons with disabilities. It is a visual reminder of our collective responsibility to build a truly inclusive India.”
