Social Media Backlash

Journalist & The New Indian Executive Editor Rohan Dua tore into Allahbadia, Raina and others associated with the show, questioning why and how various politicians, celebrities and businessmen were doing podcast with such men known for their cheap commentary in public.

In a strongly worded post, Dua wrote: โ€œImagine the Indian celebrities, business czars & politicians who invite or do podcasts with men like @BeerBicepsGuy & @ReheSamay. If vulgarity & obscenity had any limit, such men annihilated it. How long my brother Indians & @MIB_India be quiet on this?โ€

The remark, seen as vulgar and inappropriate, led to widespread condemnation from netizens and prominent figures alike.

The episode, which also featured YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and content creator Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid), has sparked outrage on social media, where have slammed Allahbadia for his crude and distasteful comments.

Veteran storyteller, lyricist and former print journalist Neelesh Misra also expressed his disgust, highlighting the deteriorating standards of content creation in India.

He wrote: โ€œMeet the perverted creators who are shaping our countryโ€™s creative economy. This content is not designated as adult content โ€” it can be seen with ease even by a child if the algorithm takes him or her there. The creators or the platform have zero sense of responsibility.โ€

Misra further criticized the normalization of such crass humor, saying, โ€œDecency is not incentivised in India โ€” by platforms or audiences โ€” and creators are stooping lower and lower for audience reach and revenue.โ€

Several social media users joined the backlash against Ranveer Allahbadia.

@Maahibahubali questioned how someone honored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could ask such disgraceful questions. The user wrote, โ€œเคœเคฟเคธ เคตเฅเคฏเค•เฅเคคเคฟ เค•เฅ‹ @narendramodi เคœเฅ€ เคจเฅ‡ โ€˜National Creator Awardโ€™ เคธเฅ‡ เคธเคฎเฅเคฎเคพเคจเคฟเคค เค•เคฟเคฏเคพ, เคตเคน เคเคธเฅ‡ เค˜เคฟเคจเฅŒเคจเฅ‡ เค”เคฐ เคถเคฐเฅเคฎเคจเคพเค• เคธเคตเคพเคฒ เคชเฅ‚เค› เคฐเคนเคพ เคนเฅˆโ€ฆ เค•เฅเคฏเคพ เคเคธเฅ‡ เคฒเฅ‹เค— เคนเคฎเคพเคฐเฅ‡ เคฌเคšเฅเคšเฅ‹เค‚ เค”เคฐ เคธเคฎเคพเคœ เค•เฅ‡ เคฒเคฟเค เคฐเฅ‹เคฒ เคฎเฅ‰เคกเคฒ เคฌเคจเคจเฅ‡ เคฒเคพเคฏเค• เคนเฅˆเค‚?โ€ He further added that such influencers are corrupting young minds and the government should reconsider promoting them.

He also mocked Allahbadiaโ€™s so-called intellectualism, adding, โ€œAnd Finally, So Called Intellectual Ranveer Allahbadia Showed His True Intellectualism.โ€

@iamkartikvikram highlighted Allahbadiaโ€™s political connections, writing, โ€œWould you watch your parents have sex everyday of your life or would you join in once?โ€ โ€“ Ranveer Allahbadia aka Beerbiceps.

He pointed out, โ€œHe was felicitated by the Prime Minister and did podcast with many Politicians. Background checks are a must.โ€

Criticism Over Government Recognition

Amid the outrage, several users also pointed out that Allahbadiaโ€™s request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a podcast was turned down by the BJP strongman at the โ€˜Disruptor of the Yearโ€™ title at the National Creators Award 2024, held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.

Allahbadia had done podcasts with Smriti Irani, S Jaishankar and Nitin Gadkari but Modi had publicly denounced his request.

Many netizens asked Gadkari, Irani and Jaishankar on why they must never entertain such Youtubers who are not journalists by any standard and have degraded the content quality to gain reach and followers.

Legal Implications and Public Reactions

Advocate Seema Sindhu, Supreme Court, commented on the legal ramifications of Allahbadiaโ€™s remarks: โ€œThe comments can be booked under Section 294 and 295 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.โ€ These comments are not just vulgar but also provoking incest. Both the sections are cognizable and bailable.โ€

A social media user, Bharatiya Sanatani (@SanataniSpeaks), expressed their discontent, tweeting: โ€œDisgusted.

In the end, itโ€™s all about money.

He is not making any difference, he is selling content that is in demand to mint his money. Sadly, people forgot many so-called influencersโ€™ recent past. Again, his parents must be proud after hearing this.โ€

The incident has reignited discussions on content moderation, responsibility, and the ethics of digital entertainment in India.

Many have called for stricter guidelines on streaming platforms and social media to prevent the spread of inappropriate content.

Neither Allahbadia nor the makers of Indiaโ€™s Got Latent have issued a public statement addressing the controversy.

However, the growing backlash indicates that the debate on responsible content creation in India is far from over.
