MUMBAI: The industry is abuzz with talks that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia are set to tie the knot on April 17. According to sources, the wedding will be an intimate affair with only family and close friends attending it. The marriage ceremony will be held at the RK Studios in Chembur.
The ‘sangeet and mehendi’ ceremonies are scheduled to take place between April 13 to 17. The couple are reportedly calling up their relatives and friends to keep themselves free during this period.
Alia will reportedly wear Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi costumes for her wedding celebration.
While the wedding will be an intimate affair, Ranbir and Alia are likely to throw a reception party in which all the prominent people from the industry will be invited.
Ranbir is also planning to host a bachelor party at his place ahead of the wedding. Aditya Roy Kapur, Arjun Kapoor and Ayan Mukerji – who are his closest friends in Bollywood – will be a part of the shindig.
The ‘Rockstar’ actor had admitted in an interview in 2020 that if the COVID-19 pandemic had not happened, Alia and he would have been already married. “It would’ve been sealed had the pandemic not hit our lives. I don’t want to jinx it by saying anything. I want to tick-mark that goal very soon in my life,” he said.
Last year, Alia had also said that she already felt like being married to Ranbir. “In my head, I am married to Ranbir. In fact, I have been married to Ranbir in my head for a long time,” she stated.
Ranbir and Alia had started dating each other during the shooting of their upcoming movie ‘Brahmastra’ which is slated to release in September 2022. The couple made their relationship public in 2018.
Recently, they visited Varanasi and went to Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple as they wrapped the shooting of the movie which has been in the making for five years. It is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. ‘Brahmastra’ also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. Touted as the most expensive movie ever made in Bollywood, at a budget of approx. Rs 350 crore, this will mark the coming together of Ranbir and Alia as an onscreen couple for the first time.
Before Alia, Ranbir had much-publicised affairs with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif.
