New Delhi: Raksha Khadse at KIPG Closing assured that the government is committed to supporting para athletes at every level. The Honโ€™ble Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports praised the successful organization of the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) 2025, which concluded on Thursday at the IG Stadium in New Delhi.

The event witnessed the participation of over 1300 athletes in six para disciplines across three venues in the capital. Haryana emerged as the team champion, followed by Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Smt. Khadse, the chief guest at the closing ceremony, emphasized the governmentโ€™s commitment to the development of para sports. โ€œUnder the leadership of Honโ€™ble PM Narendra Modi ji, no stone will be left unturned to support para athletes,โ€ she said.

 

Record-Breaking Participation at KIPG 2025

 

She highlighted the remarkable performances of athletes, stating, โ€œThe para athletes, who won medals in this tournament, have provided immense motivation to everybody.โ€ She also expressed her delight at the large participation from North Eastern states, showcasing the growing reach of para sports in the country.

 

KIPG 2025 saw the creation of 18 national records, of which 12 were set by women athletes. More than 400 women competed in the tournament, making it a landmark edition for female participation. โ€œThis Khelo India Para Games also saw huge participation from the athletes belonging to North East states. 18 national records were set up, of which 12 were made by women. 400+ women participated in this tournament, and it is heartwarming to see such immense participation from women,โ€ Smt. Khadse said.

 

She also expressed her hopes for Indiaโ€™s performance at the 2028 Paralympics. โ€œWe are expecting a lot of athletes from Khelo India Para Games 2025 to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics and are hopeful that they will bring a lot of medals,โ€ she added.

 

The closing ceremony also marked World Accessibility Day. Raksha Khadse at KIPG Closing launched the โ€˜Handbook on Accessibility of Sports Facilitiesโ€™ in the presence of former cricketer Syed Saba Karim, Smt. Sminu Jindal of Svayam (official accessibility partner for KIPG), and Shri Mayank Srivastava, Deputy Director General, SAI.

 

Smt. Khadse was full of praise for the women athletes, reinforcing the need for continuous support. โ€œIt only proves that our women have come a long way, and they deserve to be supported at all levels,โ€ she said.
