Rajputs to protest at Ramlila Maidan on Dec 10 after Karni Sena Prez death

NEW DELHI: Anger and agitation over the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena President Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi has reached Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan as the Rajput community has decided to hold a protest in the national capital on December 10.

On December 5, two killers identified as Rohit Rathore and Nitin Foji went to meet Gogamedi, who were at his residence for tea.

In a tragic turn of events, both Rathore and Foji had suddenly pulled out their pistols, opening fire on Gogamedi indiscriminately.

In the incident, Gogamadi and Naveen Shekhawat were killed on the spot.

The assailants could be seen running from the spot in the CCTV footage, following the incident.

Two others identified as Ajit Singh and Narendra Singh Shekhawat were also injured in the incident.

On Thursday, the widow of slain Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena President, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, revealed that her family had constantly demanded security from Rajasthan’s Director General of Police and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, after receiving multiple threats to their lives over the phone.

“No security was provided to my family despite threats and repeated requests. We wrote letters on February 24, March 1 and March 25 but nothing happened. We also learned that on February 14, Punjab Police wrote a letter to DGP Intelligence (Rajasthan) in which they informed me that my husband was on the radar of killers. Despite receiving all such inputs, the Rajasthan DGP and CM Ashok Gehlot didn’t provide us any security,” read the FIR copy.

Sheela Shekhawat, Gogamedi’s widow, stated that her family’s pleas fell on deaf ears.

She also stated in the FIR that her husband had informed her about gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra’s gangs plotting to kill him.

Meanwhile, following the death, the Rajput community organised a protest outside the Metro Mas hospital where Gogamedi was brought after the shooting.

They subsequently organised a ‘Rajasthan Bandh’ which ended on Wednesday after a consensus was reached in which the Station House Officer of Jaipur’s Shyam Nagar Police Station and beat constable were decided to be suspended.
