NEW DELHI: In a stride towards strengthening bilateral defence ties, India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, visited the Safran Engine Division’s R&D Centre near Paris, France. Welcomed by Olivier Andries, Global CEO Safran, the minister witnessed pioneering developments in aero-engine technology, remarking, “The strides at Safran’s R&D Centre showcase France’s defense prowess.”
Expressing eagerness for collaborative projects, Andries affirmed, “We see great potential in working with our Indian counterparts, contributing to India’s growth narrative.”
In meetings with top French defence CEOs, including Eric Trappier of Dassault, Pierre Eric Pommellet of Naval Group, Guillaume Faury of Airbus, and Olivier Andries of Safran Group, discussions centered on plans for collaborative ventures.

Singh emphasised the advantages of co-production in India, noting, “This presents opportunities for exports to third countries.” He underscored India’s strengths – a vast skilled workforce, top-notch infrastructure, and robust legal framework.
Later, he engaged in the 5th Annual Defence Dialogue with French Minister of Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, solidifying defence cooperation.
Addressing the Indian community in Paris, the Minister celebrated India’s defence achievements and said, “Our defence sector’s progress is commendable, and we’re committed to global engagement.”
