There is some good news for the residents of the walled city area of Jaipur who are facing problems with the drinking water supply. The Rajasthan Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has approved tenders for a ₹69.58 crore plan for the restructuring works of the central transfer main pipeline of the Bisalpur pipeline.
After the restructuring, Bisalpur dam water will also be supplied with sufficient pressure in the tail end areas of the city, like Transport Nagar, Brahmapuri and New Filter House. Excessive pressure at the Ram Niwas Bagh Pumping Station will also be reduced. The work orders for the scheme will be issued this month, and the work will be completed in one year.
The approval was given in a meeting chaired by additional chief secretary PHED Subodh Agrawal. Moreover, PHED has also approved tenders for water supply schemes worth about ₹28 crore for adequate drinking water supply in various areas of Jaipur city.
Under the Jaipur-Bisalpur Drinking Water Project restructuring work, a clean reservoir of 11 million litre capacity is proposed in the Jhalana Campus of the Ground Water Department. The pipeline will be laid for about 18 km from the OTS intersection to the New Filter Plant, Jaipur-Delhi Bypass Road, to other areas of Jaipur by the year 2051. A population of about 8 lakh will benefit from this scheme.
It is noteworthy that due to the lack of proper arrangement of clean reservoirs for water storage, drinking water supply is boosted in various zones directly from Ram Niwas Bagh pumping station, due to which many times consumers face problems like low water pressure and the supply of polluted water. Restructuring work will get rid of this problem.
This drinking water scheme was included in the budget announcement of Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot. The projects include the construction of a high reservoir, the replacement of an old pipeline and the laying of a new pipeline as per requirement. With this, a population of about 70 thousand people will be able to supply drinking water with sufficient pressure.
