Raj Govt Review Cattle Disease Situation

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Animal Husbandry Minister Lalchand Kataria held a meeting with the top officials of the department on Sunday and reviewed the situation and efforts being made for the prevention of lumpy skin disease spreading in the cattle of western districts of the state.

He took stock of the situation after talking to the Collector of the affected districts and directed to take effective steps for the treatment and prevention of the disease.

Kataria informed that this infectious disease is spreading in cows in Jaisalmer, Jalore, Barmer, Sirohi, Jodhpur and Bikaner districts of western Rajasthan. He has given instructions to ensure the availability of necessary medicines for the prevention and treatment of the disease. Along with this, instructions were also given to allocate additional budgets according to the need for purchasing medicines in emergency situations.

He said that if there is a shortage of veterinary personnel in the affected districts, then send medical teams from neighbouring districts with fewer disease outbreaks. Apart from this, the nodal officers of the district from the directorate level were instructed to visit the affected areas and take effective action.

Kataria directed officials to set up control rooms in the affected districts as well as at the Jaipur Headquarters for continuous monitoring of the disease spreading among animals. He said that on Monday, a central expert team would visit the affected areas and take stock of the situation.

Government Secretary PC Kishan informed that there is more of an outbreak of this disease in animals in the Jodhpur division, although the death rate is not high in it. One to 1.5 per cent of the animals that get sick are dying, which are very weak and have low immunity. He said that ₹1 lakh each and ₹50,000 each to polyclinics have already been released to each of the affected districts to buy emergency essential medicines.
