NEW DELHI: After the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was opened to the public, the roof started leaking during the first heavy showers. Water was leaking from the roof of the sanctum sanctorum at the Ram temple. This information was shared by Acharya Satyendra Das, who serves as the chief priest of the Ram Mandir.
Acharya Satyendra Das accused the construction team of negligence, stating that they failed to provide proper drainage for rainwater on the temple grounds. Das also highlighted this issue after heavy showers on Saturday midnight & called on the temple authorities to address the problem promptly.
The current situation is quite astonishing, considering that engineers from across the country are involved in constructing the Ram temple. Despite its inauguration on January 22, there was no prior awareness that the roof could leak during rainfall. It’s truly unexpected and concerning that such a renowned temple is facing this issue.

This occurrence raises questions about the oversight or shortcomings in the construction process. In the presence of highly skilled engineers, such incidents shouldn’t occur, highlighting a significant lapse that needs to be addressed. chief priest Satyendra Das said.
After being notified about the roof leakage, senior officials, including the chairman of the temple construction committee Nripendra Mishra, arrived at the temple. According to sources from the temple trust, Mishra instructed them to repair the roof and implement waterproofing measures.
During a separate conversation with reporters regarding the temple’s construction in progress, the chairman of the temple construction committee Nripendra Mishra provided updates. He mentioned that construction on the first floor is currently underway & is expected to be completed by July this year. Mishra also expressed optimism that the overall temple construction will be finished by December. Mishra also explained that rainwater is dripping from the first floor due to the Guru Mandap being open to the sky, as the second floor and the completion of the Shikhar will eventually cover this exposed area.
