Rahul Gandhi’s Tryst With ED Far From Over; Summoned Again On Friday

NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi’s ordeal seems far from over as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again summoned the former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for questioning in connection with the National Herald case on Friday.

The ED has already questioned the Congress Lok Sabha MP from Kerala’s Wayanad for over 30 hours in the last three days.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi appeared before the financial probe agency around 11.20 am. He left the agency’s headquarters at 9.29 pm after 10 hours of questioning.

This was the third time that Rahul Gandhi appeared before the agency in the last three days.

The ED has also summoned his mother and Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi for questioning on June 8. However, as she tested positive for COVID on June 2, the ED issued asked her to appear on June 23. She was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Sunday.

Rahul Gandhi on Monday afternoon during his lunch break had gone to enquire about his mother’s health along with his sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

He along with his sister also visited his mother on Tuesday night after leaving ED headquarters at 11.41 pm.

Meanwhile, the Congress party had filed an official complaint at Tughlak Road Police Station following Delhi Police personnel forcibly entering the party headquarters and thrashing its leaders and workers, the grand old party faced a complaint.

A delegation of senior leaders including Avinash Pande, Harish Choudhary, Pranav Jha and Challa Vamshi Reddy met with the ACP and Station House Officer (SHO) and presented a detailed written complaint highlighting the brazen and illegal actions of officials of the Delhi police in entering and attacking workers of the party, without provocation.

“We hope that the Delhi police will take swift and appropriate action against the offenders who have brought shame to the rule of law and our constitution,” the party said.

The Congress tweeted a video of police action at its party headquarters condemning the action.

Speaking to the media, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the party will hold protests in front of Raj Bhawans across the country over the police brutality.
