New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference in New Delhi over the NEET controversy. The NEET issue is set to be a priority during the first parliamentary session after the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, scheduled for June 24.
When The New Indian team asked him if Congress is planning to propose any alternative to the National Test Agency (NTA), that conducts almost all the exams including the medical exam NEET, UGC NET and college entrance exams as well, he replied, “BJP has control over everything including the legal system, education, bureaucracy, and intelligence agency.” He said the solution is to give the power of shaping the education system to honest and objective people.
Slamming Narendra Modi, Gandhi said, “It used to be said that PM Modi has stopped the Russia-Ukraine war in a word then why can’t he stop paper leaks? Is it because he can’t or because he doesn’t want to?

There has been an expansion of the idea of Vyapam to the rest of the country,” he said while referring to the Vyapam examination and recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh.
A major controversy has arisen surrounding the NEET medical entrance examination due to alleged irregularities, with the matter now under consideration by the Supreme Court.
On Wednesday night, the Ministry of Education directed the cancellation of the UGC-NET following concerns that the exam’s integrity may have been compromised. The issue has been referred to the CBI for investigation.
He also mentioned, “During my Bharat Jodo Yatra, students informed me that paper leaks are among the foremost issues in the country. Currently, the NEET paper has been leaked and UGC NET has been cancelled.”
Rahul Gandhi attributed the reason behind these leaks to, “The education system is being controlled by the BJP’s parent organization. Unless this is reversed, paper leaks will continue to occur. Modi Ji has facilitated this takeover. It is an anti-national activity,” he asserted.
