NEW DELHI: On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Narendra Modi government following the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam. The Congress leader also added that during the Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra, thousands of students complained about the paper leaks issue.
Today at a press briefing, he questioned why PM Modi couldn’t prevent paper leaks, “People say PM Modi stopped the Russia-Ukraine war, but for some reason, he can’t or won’t stop paper leaks in India.”
He announced that Congress would address this paper leak issue in Parliament when the Monsoon session starts on June 24. Rahul Gandhi also added, “The reason for the paper leaks is that the BJP’s parent organization has taken over the education system. Until this is reversed, paper leaks will continue. PM Modi has enabled his takeover, which is an anti-national activity.”
On Wednesday, the Education Ministry announced the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam, which had been conducted nationwide the previous day. The ministry explained that on June 19, 2024, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received information from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4 C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs. This information suggested that the integrity of the exam might have been compromised.

Rahul Gandhi compared the impact of demonetization on the economy to the damage done to the education system.
“What Modi did to the economy with demonetization has now happened to the education system. This situation is occurring because an unbiased education system has been destroyed. It’s crucial that those responsible are held accountable and face consequences.” Rahul Gandhi compared the impact of demonetization on the economy to the damage done to the education system.
In response, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also stated on Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the paper leak. He said at a press conference, “Just because Rahul Gandhi failed the NEET exam for the third time, it doesn’t give him the right to criticize the youth of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. He claimed that Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are the main areas of paper leaks.”
