NEW DELHI: A photograph from the event “Our Constitution, Our Pride” at the Parliament House has gone viral, capturing the unexpected meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Central Hall. Once close allies in Congress, their relationship fractured in 2020 when Scindia defected to the BJP, leading to the fall of the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh.

The two leaders shook hands and shared a brief exchange after a four-year gap, surprising attendees. Congress leaders observed the interaction with curiosity, while social media buzzed with speculations about its implications. Neither leader has commented on the encounter.

The fallout between Scindia and the Gandhi family remains tense. During the Madhya Pradesh elections, Priyanka Gandhi labeled Scindia “arrogant,” accusing him of betrayal, while Scindia retorted by calling Priyanka a “part-time politician.” These remarks underline the strained relations between the two factions.

The viral image of the handshake recalls their earlier camaraderie when Rahul described Scindia as a trusted ally. Scindia, now a Union Minister in the Modi government, and Rahul, a Congress stalwart, represent divergent political paths.
