Quad Fellowship To Encourage Academic Excellence: PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Quad Fellowship will encourage academic excellence and promote people-to-people links between the Quad member countries, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday at the launch of the programme during the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Tokyo.

“The Quad fellowship programme is a wonderful and unique initiative. This prestigious fellowship will offer our students great opportunities to pursue graduate, doctorate programmes in science, tech, engineering and mathematics,” PM Modi said.

“It will encourage academic excellence and promote people-to-people linkage between our countries,” he further stated.

“I encourage our students to apply for the Quad fellow fellowship programme and join the next generation of stem leaders and innovators building a better future for humanity,” PM Modi added.

The fellowship application will remain open till June 30, 2022. The first batch of Quad Fellows will start the academic session on campus in autumn 2023, the White House said.

The Quad fellowship will extend financial support to altogether 100 American, Japanese, Australian and Indian students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to pursue Masters’ or Doctoral studies in the USA from August 2023 to May 2024. Twenty-five students from each country will be selected under this fellowship programme.
Under this fellowship programme, every fellowship holder will receive one-time financial assistance of USD 50,000 for tuition and other fees, research, books, room and related expenses.

Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic organization will monitor and process the fellowship programme.
