NEW DELHI: In a monumental feat, Pushpa 2: The Rule has shattered records by becoming the fastest Indian film to surpass the ₹1000 crore mark at the global box office. The sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise achieved this milestone in just six days, an achievement that sets it apart from other major Indian releases. The movie, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, opened to a staggering ₹294 crore worldwide and has maintained its momentum ever since.
According to reports from Idlebrain Jeevi, the film crossed ₹922 crore in gross earnings within its first five days, making it the first Indian film to reach this benchmark so quickly. This milestone outpaces the previous record holder, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which reached ₹1000 crore in 10 days. Other films, such as RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, and Kalki 2898 AD, took 16 days to hit the same mark, while Jawan and Pathan managed it in 18 and 27 days, respectively.

The movie follows the story of Pushpa Raj (played by Allu Arjun), a cunning red sandalwood smuggler who faces off against a relentless police officer, Bhanwar Singh Shekawat (portrayed by Fahadh Faasil). The film continues the saga where Pushpa: The Rise left off, with Shekawat vowing to bring Pushpa to justice by any means necessary.
Despite its success, the film has not been free from controversy. Rajput leader Raj Shekhawat issued threats against the film’s producers over what he described as an insult to the Kshatriya community. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Shekhawat demanded the removal of the term “Shekawat” from the movie, which he claimed presented the community in a negative light. “The movie has done grave insult to Kshatriyas,” he said, warning that the Karni Sena would take drastic action if his demands were not met. Fahadh’s portrayal of Shekawat as a character constantly outmaneuvered by Pushpa Raj is at the heart of the dispute.
