Punjab Police crack Moga jeweller’s murder case, arrest four

Punjab Police and Bihar Police nabbed three accused from Patna in Bihar

PATNA, BIHAR: Punjab Police, with the support of Bihar Police and central agencies, successfully cracked the Moga Jeweller’s murder case on Sunday. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects from Patna, Bihar, and one from Nanded, Maharashtra.

The incident occurred on June 12, 2023, when five unidentified individuals shot and killed Parminder Singh, the owner of Asia Jewellers in Moga, and looted gold ornaments from his shop.

According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the arrested suspects include Rajwinder Singh alias Manga alias Raju from Moga, Rajvir Singh alias Avinash Singh from Bihar, Varun Jazzi alias Vanu from Jalandhar and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi from Amritsar.

The police recovered two pistols, a .315 bore (country-made) and a .32 bore, along with live cartridges used in the crime. They also retrieved the licensed .32 bore revolver that belonged to Parminder Singh.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that all the arrested individuals have a history of criminal activities, including cases related to dacoity, theft, Arms Act violations, and the NDPS Act, registered against them in Punjab and Bihar.

It was discovered that Rajvir had previously escaped from police custody during a court appearance in Jalandhar and had been on the run since then.

The police are still searching for the fifth suspect, Golu, from Patna. Multiple police teams are actively pursuing him, and it is expected that he will be apprehended soon.

The Moga Jeweller’s murder case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act at the City South Moga Police Station.

Investigations into the case are ongoing as the police gather more evidence and work towards bringing all the perpetrators to justice.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated, “The swift operation and arrests demonstrate the dedicated efforts of Punjab Police, Bihar Police, and the central agencies involved in solving this heinous crime. We will continue our relentless pursuit to ensure the complete eradication of such criminal elements from our society.”
