NEW DELHi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their winning run in TATA IPL 2025. They secured their second consecutive victory by defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 8 wickets at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. PBKS restricted LSG to 171/7 and chased down the target in just 16.2 overs. This dominant win placed them second on the IPL points table.

Ponting’s Strong Message to PBKS

PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting praised the team’s attitude and performance. He delivered a motivating message to the squad.
“So many good things are happening. Let’s not take anything for granted. Our attitudes have been spot on. We are just scratching the surface. Let’s keep working hard as a family. We will get better every day.”
Nehal Wadhera played a crucial role in the chase. He scored an unbeaten 43 off 25 balls. Wadhera later revealed that he was not expecting to be in the Playing XI. Ricky Ponting informed him just before he went out to bat.
Talking about his approach, Wadhera said,
“The way Prabhsimran Singh and Iyer were batting, it was tremendous. They played in one flow. When I went in, I had a clear mindset. If the ball is in my range, I will go for it 100%. If not, I’ll take a single or a double. I had planned not to put our captain under pressure. Instead, I took charge and attacked the bowlers.”
Prabhsimran’s Match-Winning Knock
Prabhsimran Singh was the Player of the Match for his blistering 69 off 34 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 3 sixes. He gave insights into his mindset while batting.
“I kept my approach simple and backed my game. Once I middled a few balls and hit some early boundaries, I decided to stay longer and score as many runs as possible in fewer balls.”
Punjab Kings’ bowling attack also played a key role. Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer, taking 3 wickets for 43 runs. His crucial breakthroughs at the start and end of the innings restricted Lucknow Super Giants to a manageable total.
With two wins in two matches, PBKS now stands second in the IPL points table. Their next match is against Rajasthan Royals. It will be Punjab Kings’ first home game of the season. The match is scheduled for April 5, 2025, at the New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh. PBKS will aim to continue their winning streak and strengthen their position in the tournament.
