Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann set to marry Gurpreet Kaur

NEW DELHI: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Man is all set to tie the knot with Dr Gurpreet Kaur in an intimate ceremony attended by family and friends in Chandigarh on Thursday.

Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal is likely to attend the wedding ceremony which will be held in Sector 38 area of Chandigarh.

It will be his second marriage after he parted ways with Inderjeet Kaur in 2016. Mann, who became a household name in Punjab courtesy to his comic punches before his election — first parliamentarian from Sangrur and then as the CM, has a 10-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter with Inderjeet.

The children are staying with their mother in the United States. Both of them had flown in to attend Mann’s swearing-in ceremony as the CM in March this year.

The 48-year-old leader had earlier revealed that Inderjeet and he sought divorce after her wife could not settle in India, and he could not shift to the US as he was an elected representative from Sangrur constituency. I chose service in Punjab over my family, he had said.

According to reports, Mann’s mother and sister have chosen Dr Gurpreet as his bride.

AAP’s spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang congratulated the CM on his twitter handle.

Congress Punjab President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also extended his wishes to the Punjab CM on twitter.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains tweeted, “Wishing my chief minister Bhagwant Mann Ji a very happy and blessed married life ahead. I wish them both lifetime of love, respect and companionship.”
