NEW DELHI: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will visit the home of wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to being overweight. Mann, accompanied by Anurag Dhanda, Vice President of AAP’s Haryana unit, will meet Vinesh’s father, Mahabir Phogat, to offer support during this challenging time. “The entire nation stands with our daughter in this difficult period. A conspiracy of 100 grams is unacceptable to a country of 100 crore people,” Dhanda stated.

The 12th day of the Paris Olympics brought sad news for India as Vinesh Phogat, who had reached the finals of the 50 kg wrestling category, was disqualified. Overwhelmed by the decision, Vinesh fainted due to dehydration and was admitted to the polyclinic in the athletes’ village.

Vinesh Phogat, affected by dehydration, was admitted to the polyclinic inside the athletes’ village. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) expressed concern over her disqualification and requested respect for her privacy in a statement released on Wednesday.

Vinesh made history as the first Indian female wrestler to reach the Olympic finals, defeating Cuba’s Yusnelis Guzman 5-0 in the semifinals on Tuesday night. However, due to her disqualification, she will place last in the tournament.

After her semifinal victory, Vinesh made every effort to reduce weight through jogging, skipping, and cycling. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with IOA President PT Usha regarding the situation and discussed the options available for India following Vinesh’s disqualification. Sources revealed that the PM urged the IOA President to consider all possible options to assist the wrestler and requested PT Usha to strongly protest the disqualification if it would help Vinesh.
