NEW DELHI: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Friday that after giving more than 29,000 government jobs to youth in the last year, the state government will now ensure 2.77 lakh jobs for them in the private sector as well.

In a message to the youth of the state, CM Mann said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the state government has hitherto provided more than 29,000 jobs to the youth in various departments of the state government.

He said that it is a record, as none of the previous governments have given so many jobs to youth, especially in the first year. Bhagwant Mann said that merit and transparency have been the twin pillars based on which jobs have been given to the youth across the state.

However, the Chief Minister said that it is not enough, so the state government is making strenuous efforts to generate new jobs in the private sector as well. He said that so far, due to the massive efforts made by the state government, investments worth around ₹48,000 crores have been roped in, for Punjab.

CM Mann said that this will generate 2.77 lakh new jobs for the youth, thereby channelling their unbounded energy in a positive direction.

CM Mann said that these jobs will give a major boost to economic activity in the entire state, besides making youth an active partner in the socio-economic growth of the state. He said that the state government has already taken path-breaking initiatives to establish Punjab as a hub of world-class education across the globe.

CM Mann said that the state government is working concertedly to ensure degrees and later job letters are in the hands of the hard-working and dedicated youth of the state.

CM Mann said that the major thrust of the state government is to reverse the trend of brain drain in the state. He said that the youth no longer need to go abroad in search of jobs because the state government will provide them with lucrative jobs here in their homeland.

CM Mann said that the day is not far when the state government and the youth will restore the pristine glory of the state and carve out a vibrant, progressive and peaceful Punjab.
