In the lead-up to the parade, the Southern Command organized the “Know Your Army Mela 2025” at the Royal Western India Turf Club from January 3 to 5. The event, themed “Samarth Bharat, Saksham Sena,” aimed to educate the public about the Army’s capabilities and foster a sense of national pride.

The Army Day Parade commemorates the day in 1949 when General (later Field Marshal) K.M. Cariappa took command of the Indian Army from British General Sir Francis Butcher, becoming the first Indian Commander-in-Chief. This annual event honours the bravery and dedication of Army personnel and serves as a reminder of the Army’s pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
