PUNE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not availed a single leave during his term in the office in the last nine years, the government revealed in response to a Right to Information (RTI) query.

“The prime minister is on duty all the time. No leave has been availed by the prime minister Shri Narendra Modi since taking over office,” his office said in a query filed by Pune-based businessman and RTI activist Prafful Sarda.

Speaking to The New Indian, Sarda said PM Modi has participated in more than 3000 events and functions in India and abroad during this period. Modi’s work ethic is in contradiction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s periodic leaves post major elections, he said, adding that PM Modi prefers investing his time and effort in advancing the nation’s interests.

“PM Modi’s active participation in such events has played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s international relations, opening doors for trade agreements, and fostering goodwill,” Sarda emphasized.

He said that the revelation debunks “opposition’s claims that the PM is more interested in wasting the country’s financial resources”. Modi Ji is extremely committed to his work. This approach aligns with the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ philosophy,” he said.

He also applauded PM Modi’s tireless efforts in securing India’s role as the host of the G20 Summit, a significant opportunity to attract foreign investments and stimulate job growth in the country. Rahul Gandhi’s post-election trips to Bangkok, for instance, are juxtaposed with Modi’s focused efforts for the nation’s benefit, he said.

“While critics may argue that the government’s involvement in events is wasteful, it is crucial to emphasize that these gatherings often serve as forums for diplomacy, economic cooperation, and global partnerships”, said the activist.
