NEW DELHI: In a dramatic turn of events, a wave of protest surged outside the premises of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College in New Delhi. The demonstration, organized by Mahila Nyay Smiti, aimed to address grave allegations of sexual harassment levied against a Muslim professor, Salik Sheikh, serving as an Assistant Professor at the institution.
The allegations, primarily raised by Hindu female medical students, have ignited fury and condemnation across various societal segments. “A heinous act of physical abuse and intimidation was perpetrated against female students studying at Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital and Medical College by an active Muslim professor. There is widespread anger and outrage across all sections of society towards this despicable act,” expressed Dharmender Suri, one of the protestors.

The protest, conceived to seek justice for the affected students and to raise awareness within society, manifested as a massive Public Outrage Assembly outside Gate No. 2 of the college. The scene outside the college was tense, with a heavy police presence deployed to maintain order. Protestors, brandishing placards denouncing the accused professor, voiced their demands for his immediate removal from his position. Slogans reverberated through the air, echoing the collective call for justice.
One female protestor, expressing her dismay, highlighted the alleged negligence of the authorities. “We will not let it be Sandeskhali or West Bengal. The women in the college are suffering. Police should take strict action. They lodged the case but released him on bail. All went in vain. We want action,” she exclaimed.
