Prominent Leaders grace grand Jagannath Rath Yatra, celebrating tradition, unity

NEW DELHI: This year’s Jagannath Rath Yatra was a grand spectacle, marked by the presence of several notable political leaders, underscoring the festival’s immense cultural and spiritual significance. The streets of Puri came alive with fervent devotion as lakhs of devotees gathered to witness the divine journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, a regular participant in the Yatra, played a pivotal role in overseeing the proceedings. His heartfelt prayers set a tone of reverence and devotion that resonated with the vast gathering. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a prominent leader from Odisha, joined him, emphasizing the festival’s cultural importance.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s presence underscored the national significance of the Yatra, highlighting how the festival transcends regional boundaries to unite the nation in devotion. Union Minister Piyush Goyal also participated in the rituals, adding to the event’s grandeur.

Member of Parliament Pratap Chandra Sarangi, known for his unwavering devotion, joined the festivities with a spirit that inspired many. Odisha Minister Jagannath Saraka took part in the celebrations, reflecting his commitment to the community and the festival’s rich traditions.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, hailing from Odisha, added to the event’s splendor with his presence. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, traveled to Puri to pay his respects, demonstrating the festival’s far-reaching appeal.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, celebrated with great enthusiasm, marking the event as a significant occasion in the Indian cultural calendar. The participation of President Draupadi Murmu was a highlight of the Yatra. She performed a ‘parikrama’ of the three chariots and bowed before the deities, marking the culmination of the grand event.
