NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) mentioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband, Robert Vadra, in the chargesheet of a land scam case, on Thursday.

According to the complaint filed in the CC Thampi case, it was discovered that the entity had 486 acres of land from Amipur village in Faridabad, from 2005 to 2008, through HL Pahwa. It was highlighted through the complaint that Priyanka had purchased three pieces of land measuring five acres, in April 2006. On the other hand, a similar pattern was seen with Robert purchasing three pieces of land measuring 40.08 acres.

It was further iterated in the complaint that both the entities had sold the purchased piece of land to Pahwa in 2010.

“Mr Pahwa was receiving cash out of the books for the purpose of acquisition of land. It was also noticed that Sh. Robert Vadra did not pay the entire sale consideration to Sh. Pahwa. The investigation in this regard is still ongoing. The copy of the ledger accounts in the books of HL Pahwa reflecting the above-mentioned transactions were taken on record vide letter,” the ED’s complaint stated.

Furthermore, the central agency discovered that both entities Vadra and Thampi, had known each other for a long time, as the latter stated that he had been introduced to the former through former Congress President, Sonia Gandhi’s Personal Assistant, Madhavan.

He also added that Vadra had met him multiple times in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Thampi also illustrated that he had purchased a Land Cruiser car in his name from Vadra over a decade ago. He added that the payments for the vehicle had also been made through cheques from his Non-Resident External account.

As the country is slated to go for General Elections in 2024, multiple Opposition leaders from the INDIA bloc have accused the Centre of misusing central agencies to cow them down.
