NEW DELHI: In a major political development, Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi is reportedly set to sever her ties with the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and join the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), according to top political sources.

Chaturvedi has allegedly met senior NCP leaders Parth Pawar and Praful Patel, where she is said to have conveyed her desire to join the party. Her term in the Rajya Sabha is scheduled to end in the next 11 months.

This move comes just days after she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a podcast appearance โ€” a gesture that is now being seen as a calculated step ahead of her planned political shift.

Sources indicate that Chaturvedi is likely to make the switch during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, on the condition that she continues as a Member of Parliament.

If confirmed, this would mark a significant blow to the Uddhav Thackeray camp, as Chaturvedi has been one of the prominent faces of Shiv Sena (UBT) in national politics since joining the party in 2019 after quitting the Congress.
