NEW DELHI: Days after a mercenary group’s armed rebellion sent shockwaves through Moscow, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev on Thursday provided a briefing to Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, updating him on the recent developments in Russia. The telephonic conversation, held on Wednesday, focused on various aspects of Russian-Indian cooperation in the security field and explored opportunities for further deepening this collaboration within bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

During the discussion, Patrushev ensured that Doval was informed about the latest events in Russia, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a confidential dialogue to effectively address shared concerns. The Security Council of Russia highlighted the commitment of both sides to continue this confidential dialogue, underscoring their dedication to meaningful communication and productive engagement.

Earlier this year, in March, Nikolai Patrushev had a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which they discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation. The meeting emphasized the mutual interest and cooperation that shape the relationship between Russia and India.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the opportunity to express his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and commend India’s “Make in India” initiative. President Putin referred to Prime Minister Modi as a “great friend of Russia” and praised the visionary concept of “Make in India.”
