Portion of Pak-based terrorist’s home demolished in Pahalgam

The terrorist had encroached upon public land.

Authorities demolished a portion of the house of a Pakistan-based terrorist for encroachment on the government land in the famous tourist town of Pahalgam in South Kashmir on Saturday morning.

According to officials, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorist Ghulam Nabi Khan had encroachment upon the land at “gunpoint” and built an extension wall of his residence at Liver village in Anantnag district.

Khan crossed over to Pakistan in the early 90s and has been training and coordinating terror activities in the Valley at the behest of Islamabad, officials said.

He had encroached upon three Marla public land at ‘gun point’ said a police officer.

The terrorist is the deputy chairman of the United Jihad Council, which is based in Pakistan.

Earlier, the house of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Ashiq Nengroo alias Amjid Bhai was demolished by authorities in Rajpora area of Pulwama district.

The demolition is the latest in a series of actions against terrorists and their supporters aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem in the Valley.

Last week, the Srinagar administration ordered the sealing of three properties of banned Jamaat-e Islami (JeI) including two storied residential structures constructed over 17 Marlas of land at Barzulla, Srinagar recorded in the name of late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Several investigations have revealed that successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir before it became the Union territory favoured terrorists and turned a blind eye to the excesses committed by them on the common people in Kashmir Valley.

In October last year, The New Indian reported that former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti provided the grandson of Geelani, a lifelong Pakistan supporter, a government job by breaching all official rules and procedures in 2016. His grandson Anees Ul Islam’s services at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) were terminated by the administration.

With an aim to free up the government land for use in public welfare, the administration of lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha has launched a campaign to identify and demolish properties of terrorists illegally built on public land.
