New Delhi: Delhi’s law and order situation has once again come under scrutiny following the tragic murder of Delhi Police constable Kiranpal in Govindpuri. The constable was on patrol duty when he was brutally stabbed multiple times. He was found unconscious and rushed to Majidiya Hospital on Guru Ravidas Marg, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The body bore several deep stab wounds, highlighting the violent nature of the attack.

An FIR for murder has been registered at the Govindpuri Police Station, and multiple teams have been formed to investigate the matter. The police are examining CCTV footage from the area and inquiring with locals for leads. However, no arrests have been made so far, and no senior officer was available to comment on the matter.

Govindpuri Police Station, already struggling with a significant staff shortage, is now facing an even greater crisis. The tragic death of Constable Kiranpal has underscored the critical need for manpower. Yet, another officer from the same station, ASI Mohan Lal Meena, has been forced into premature retirement.

The 55-year-old ASI, who served the Delhi Police for over 30 years, was retired under F.R. 56(J)/Rule-42 of CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021. While police battalions are reportedly overcrowded, district-level police stations like Govindpuri continue to face a severe manpower shortage, compounding operational challenges.

These incidents raise serious concerns about the readiness and efficiency of Delhi Police to maintain law and order in such dire circumstances.
